What is the purpose of a chlorination bath?
Its important that the well remain clean and free of bacteria. There are a number of issued caused by bacteria that you want to avoid. The chlorination bath is a process of killing any bacteria. We do this before the gravel pack in order to ensure no contaminates are entering the well. If this happens and you get bacteria in your well, that is when you start to get that rotten egg smell coming from your water. This rotten egg smell is an indicator that something isn’t right. Often times, its bacteria in the well. Typically, this is coliform bacteria and can be tested by an well drilling contractor. Other Ways to keep your well free from bacteria.
A water well cap in good condition will keep your well clean from bacteria. A cracked or damaged well cap can allow surface water or other exposures into the well, causing the odor or odd taste. Replace your well cap if it is cracked or damaged in any way. After you do this, make sure to contact a well drilling contractor to inspect and sanitize the well. By doing this, you can be sure that your water is clean and healthy.
